It was Friday and it was time for a school field trip to Shubenacadie Park. It will be awesome! My mom had my lunch packed and I was ready. After a few classes at school, it was time for the trip, so we got our bags and coats and then we started to drive. My gym teacher Mr. Bell was driving the bus, but my class teacher Mr. Grant also came. I sat next to my best friend Onir.
Soon they started driving and we began to talk. I noticed that some kids started sleeping… or at least pretending to sleep. After like an hour or so we arrived at the parking lot and everybody except Mr. Bell got out, but Mr. Grant came out with us. Then we walked over to a building and went inside. There we met 2 teachers that led us down to a classroom, so we took off our coats and put away our jackets then sat down. After that we started looking at some eagles that were on display. After a while we went upstairs and played a game where everybody gets a card with some sort of animal or plant on it. Then when someone says go, we all must find the matching pairs. We also saw a frog in a tank that the teacher said wasn’t growing enough so they kept it here.
After a while we lined up to go out. Then we all started walking down the path to a big cage in the forest with two bears in it. I even saw a wooden house shaped area in the corner of the huge fence. Our park teacher told us that is where they feed the bears. Just then another person came with a bucket with some food in it. Then she went in the wood part of the fence and put the bucket down then the 2 bears started to eat it. In a few minutes we started walking again.
After a while we reached an area filled with cages. We then walked over to a cage with a man and an otter in it. Our teachers said that the man and the otter like to play together. Soon we all continued walking across a long river filled with ducks. Then we reached a big cage with lots of deer and elks. One of the teachers wanted to share their favorite fact then she asked if we all know that in all the animals of the deer family, only the boys have antlers. Then she said did you know that for reindeer the girls are the one with antlers!?!? So, all the reindeer that belong to Santa are girls. We all were amazed.
After about ten minutes we went back to our class and got ready for lunch. Then we all sat down and started eating. Me and Onir were playing a game while eating in our seats where Onir has to say any building on a near by map on the wall and then I have to point to it. Soon it was time to go back to the school, so we closed our lunch boxes and said “goodbye!” and went back to the bus and started driving. After like 60 minutes we were back in the school. Everyone really enjoyed the trip.
